Liverpool transfer meeting
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has held a virtual meeting with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, Bundesliga expert Raphael Honigstein claims.
“I think it depends on what Liverpool want to do,” Honigstein said.
“He is available because of a release clause so will cost £55m.
“I think there has been a virtual meeting between Jurgen Klopp and him in recent weeks.
“They are a little hesitant to pull the trigger because they don’t know the impact of football coming back. He is waiting for things to fall into shape.
“This kind of deal which would usually be confirmed in April or May might not get announced until September or October.”
Timo Werner to Man Utd backed
Timo Werner should join Manchester United or Chelsea instead of heading to Liverpool, former Premier League ace Owen Hargreaves claims.
“He is not going to get ahead of [Roberto] Firmino, who is one of my favourite players,” Hargreaves said while co-commentating on Leipzig’s away trip to Mainz.
“With the way United play right now, I could see him there. They are looking for that number nine position too.
“Chelsea might be a good fit.
“He is perfect for Liverpool in a way but he is not going to get a start.
“He has got all the right attributes but he is not going to play in front of Roberto Firmino.”
Arsenal open Philippe Coutinho talks
Arsenal have opened talks to sign Barcelona ace Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, has been tipped to head to the Premier League this summer.
United and Chelsea have been credited with interest in the ex-Liverpool ace.
However, French outlet Le10 Sport say Arsenal have now joined the race for Coutinho.
The Gunners have held talks with Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
Mikel Arteta has identified Coutinho as his ‘dream’ signing in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea eye £80m bid
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is ready to go all out for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.
The Germany international has been tipped to head to the Premier League this summer after impressing at Leverkusen.
And according to Spanish outlet TodoFichajes, Chelsea are ready to beat their Premier League rivals to Havertz.
They say Chelsea boss Lampard has made the attacking midfielder his top target.
The Blues are ready to pay £80m (€90M) for Havertz this summer.
