Manchester United’s players head into the international break feeling low, after Sunday’s miserable result at Newcastle United.
Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford are in the England squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria, with young on-loan Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson receiving his first call up to the Three Lions squad.
Maguire and Juan Mata have been among the United players to speak out this week on the team’s poor form. Former Leicester centre-back Maguire has pledged his commitment to the club’s long term project.
“I think it’s the long term, that’s what the main thing is,” Maguire said.
Mata has heralded the attitude of Paul Pogba ahead of the midfielder’s return from injury. Pogba has not joined up with France this week while United are still sweating on injury returns for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial .
